Red Arch is excited to announce we are hosting an event for the 2018 Maryland STEM Festival! Check it out:

The future of humanity needs your help! Zombies have come alive and are wreaking havoc around the world. Brilliant scientist Ada Pythagoras Pasteur knows a cure to remove the zombie virus, but hid the ingredients across the United States.

You and your teammates will work together to discover clues, solve puzzles, and write code to find the ingredients, eradicate zombies, and save the world (think Pandemic meets Escape Room).

Think you’ve got what it takes? Join us on November 3rd from 10am to 3pm. This event is open to all high school students in Howard County and surrounding counties. No experience is necessary! This is a free event, but pre-registration is required. Lunch will be provided.

Register at zombie-eradication.eventbrite.com by October 27th. Only SIX spots left to be guaranteed a spot!!

We will be using Sphero SPRK+ and Sphero Mini robotic toys, which are app enabled robotic balls that you can control with basic coding. We will provide the Sphero toys, but ask that you bring a mobile device.

Not a Developer? Not a Problem!!

Skill Level: (All)
Sphero SPRK+ was built for learner progression. It’s approachable for beginners of all ages, yet sophisticated enough for seasoned programmers. BEGINNERS can draw paths that represent code for their robot to follow. INTERMEDIATE coders can utilize the block-based drag and drop interface and PROS can use JavaScript and write text programs like a boss.

Programming. It’s kind of a big deal, but there’s more to learn than just logic. Zombie Eradication incorporates STEM activities and the 4Cs (Collaboration, Critical thinking, Creativity, and Communication).
